There's an intriguing trance movement developing in the east of Europe. After seeing huge talents like Bobina and Qursion break through, now also this talented Russian dude Vadim Zhukove is releasing hot tunes on labels like Black Hole and here now Captivating, the uplifting sublabel he has his second release with Nothing Matters. The young Mr Zhukov made two mixes on this vinyl. Original Mix Being the easier mix of the two, the Original Mix has a slightly lower BPM and a more progressive-orientated start. A thick bass with spacy sounds introduce the first minutes. The basslines of Vadim Zhukov are always very bombastic, giving a perfect booming feel to the track. Soon a dramatic, deep melody enters, adding an even darker feel to the track. After the break the bassline guides us further, slowly introducing the melodic elements again. The last minutes of the tune build to a highlight with the high "bells" sound, a little comparable with the White Room sound. Vadim's Weekend Mix Seems like Vadim's weekend's are pretty wild, because this is an uplifting, crazy frenzy remix. The bassline is punchier and faster then in the Original Mix. Slowly synths fade in, giving a dark, exciting feel to the track. The theme from the Original Mix is introduced in the breakdown, giving in a moment silence, before the tune explodes into a full on trancetrack with subtle changes in the melody and wonderfull sounds. A super intelligent produced track, that grabs you and won't let you go for the full 8 minutes. Awesome. Conclusion Quality release on Captivating, one of the better releases on the Armada label recently. Especially Vadim's Weekend Mix is a very nice trancetrack with a face of it's own! Go Russia! | |
